Consultations & Treatments
Treatment starts with a face-to-face medical consultation with Nurse Croft, to determine the nature of the underlying problem. A medical questionnaire is completed and routine measurements of weight, height, blood pressure, pulse and temperature are recorded. This preliminary evaluation identifies if clients have any contraindications to leech treatment. During the evaluation interview, the client can ask questions.
If the patient and therapist both agree to go ahead, the first treatment session follows immediately. The whole session, including the initial evaluation, lasts approximately 2.5 hours. (There is no charge if the patient and therapist decide not to proceed with treatment.)
The benefits to the client from a leech therapy session typically last about 6 months, and can last up to a year. Follow-on treatment sessions can be booked at any time. Each follow-on treatment session lasts approximately 2 hours.
